Weird and Wonderful
The Carrera PanAmerica was one of the great open road races, held in the 1950's.
Any manner of machines might enter this race, from factory-entered Ferraris, Alfas and Porsches,
to weird and wonderful "Specials" concocted by back-yard builders or garage owners. Building a production-based car in those times wasn't just a case of bolting on ready-made parts; it was inventing the parts and then fabricating them. Ingenuity was called for and was indeed supplied in big doses. This car is one of those great garage specials, the 1953 Lincoln Cadillac. Obviously a mutt of a car, made from Lincoln and Cadillac parts, and sporting a WWII fighter canopy for good measure!
The model, made by Top Models of Italy, is just plain BIG! In the photo below, it is shown between a Carrera Cadillac from Vitesse, and the lithe and beautiful Carrera Ferrari, made by Best Models.
Like I said, there was much mechanical diversity at the Carrera PanAmerica! This 1/43rd scale model came to us via Replicarz.
